Offbeat Mara Camp/Mara North Conservancy

One of the smaller camps in the Mara, Offbeat Mara Camp has just seven tents offering a truly private, traditional safari experience within the Mara North Conservancy (MNC). The MNC founded in January 2009, is an area of about 74,000 acres and is incredibly rich in wildlife and has one of the lowest densities of tourist visitors in the greater Mara ecosystem, enabling guests to enjoy game viewing in privacy. Offbeat Mara Camp is one of the founding members of the Conservancy. Tucked away in this prime wildlife area, Offbeat Mara Camp provides guests with superb game viewing – lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo are all seen regularly in the stunning valley that surrounds the camp. Most importantly, the camp is far away from other lodges and camps. We aim to provide guests with great game viewing ‘away from the masses’.

Situated in southwest Kenya, the Mara North Conservancy is a beautiful private wilderness area spanning more than 30,000 hectares. It is home to a spectacular array of plants, reptiles, birds and mammals; including elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah and large concentrations of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and other migratory wildlife. Leopard Gorge, in the heart of the conservancy, is famous as the setting of countless BBC Big Cat Diaries and National Geographic documentaries. Neighboring the well-known Maasai Mara National Reserve, this conservancy is vital for sustaining the famous Serengeti wildebeest migrations as well as the highly threatened African wild dog and black rhino.

Safari-Adventures-Worldwide-Manda-Bay

Manda Bay/ Manda Island

Manda Bay is a small boutique lodge located on the tip of an unspoiled, idyllic island in Lamu’s archipelago where you kick off your shoes and enjoy simplistic beauty in palm thatched cottages and open living spaces. Manda Bay is perfect for honeymooners, families and groups looking to enjoy time together.

Manda Bay combines a bush and beach experience. Whilst miles of soft white sand and coconut palms surround the lodge itself, the bush behind the lodge is dry country scattered with Doum palms, Acacia Tortilis and savannah-like scrub. A variety of birds and mammals (mongoose, civet cat, porcupine, genet cat, dik-dik, buffalo and bushbuck) can be seen on the island.

Manda Bay offers beautiful beachfront accommodation, informal pampering and barefoot luxury. All the buildings are in keeping with the local landscape and are constructed using palm and driftwood and local building techniques.

Set on Kenya’s beautiful Lamu Archipelago, Manda Island is known for its pristine beaches and island-style atmosphere. It is dotted with palm-thatch cottages that offer visitors a barefoot luxury experience. Calm crystal waters lap the island’s palm-lined white-sand beaches. The surrounding area is renowned for its excellent marlin fishing, historic towns and the ancient baobab encircled Manda Settlement. Visitors can sample an array of seafood, enjoy a variety of watersports, and experience a traditional dhow cruise. Other popular activities include: kitesurfing, fishing, windsurfing, game drives, historical tours, and scenic flights.

ACTIVITIES

Deep Sea Fishing – Experience the best Kenya has to offer in its seas – with a once in a lifetime experience! Go deep sea fishing on Manda Bay boat ‘Cheza’ and try to snag a fish as big as yourself!

Motorized Water Sports Activities – Use the Manda Bay motorboat for water-based activities such as the screamer, water skiing, wakeboarding, snorkeling or scenic tours to Lamu town (UNESCO World Heritage Site) or around the mangroves.

Non-motorized activities – Manda bay also has a number of non-motorized activities available to guests, which are included in their stay. These include use of the kayaks, stand up paddleboards, windsurfing, sailing boats (including a Laser and a Topper), yoga room and work out room/gym, game room (including table tennis and darts).

Wildlife – Leave the white sandy beaches to explore the bushy lands behind the lodge. There are many animals on Manda island, include a resident herd of buffalo, which can be viewed from the Manda Bay safari car. There is also an abundance of birdlife on the island which can be viewed both on the beach and in the bush behind the lodge.

ROOM CONFIGURATION

Five rooms are set back slightly from the beach front, and have lovely views of the ocean.
