Sample Best of Kenya Safari Itinerary at a Glance

DAY 1 -Giraffe Manor/Nairobi – Bed and Breakfast – Upon arrival into Nairobi, you will be met and driven to the Giraffe Manor for your overnight stay. Time permitting you can visit the Elephant Orphanage just down the road and Giraffe Center a short walk away.

DAY 2 – Elewana Tortilis Camp/Amboseli National Park – Fully Inclusive – This morning you will be driven to Wilson airport in time to fly to Amboseli National Park. Your guide will meet you on your arrival and drive you to your next destination – Elewana Tortilis Camp in Amboseli National Park for a 3 night stay. Afternoon/evening game drive with sundowners.

DAY 3 – Elewana Tortilis Camp/Amboseli National Park – Fully Inclusive – Morning game drive in Itirua Private Conservancy. Bush lunch and afternoon guided nature walk with a Masai guide.

DAY 4 – Elewana Tortilis Camp/Amboseli National Park – Fully Inclusive – Morning game drive into Amboseli National Park.  Midday massage and swim. Late afternoon visit to a local Masai village and game drive.

DAY 5 – Laikipia Wilderness Camp/Laikipia – Fully Inclusive – After breakfast, you will fly from Tsavo via Wilson airport and connect with a scheduled flight to Nanyuki. On arrival you will be met by Laikipia Wilderness camp and driven about 2 hours to the camp. Afternoon/evening game drive with sundowners will be on offer.

DAY 6 – Laikipia Wilderness Camp/Laikipia – Fully Inclusive – Today you will have a wide array of activities to choose from including game drives. walking safaris, swimming, tubing and fishing in the river, Samburu village visits, birding or fly-camping.

DAY 7 – Laikipia Wilderness Camp/Laikipia – Fully Inclusive – Today you will have a wide array of activities to choose from including game drives. walking safaris, swimming, tubing and fishing in the river, Samburu village visits, birding or fly-camping.

DAY 8 – House in the Wild/Masai Mara National Reserve – Fully Inclusive – This morning, you will be driven back to Nanyuki airstrip and will fly across to the Masai Mara. On arrival, you will be collected by your guide from House in the Wild and driven to the lodge for a 4-night stay. Afternoon visit to the farm and fishing along the banks of the Mara River.

DAY 9 – House in the Wild/Masai Mara National Reserve – Fully Inclusive – AM game drive to Enonkishu, Lemek or Ol Chorro Oiruwa Conservancies. Afternoon horseback riding hack around the farm, getting up close to giraffe, wildebeest and zebra. Evening sundowners.

DAY 10 – House in the Wild/Masai Mara National Reserve – Fully Inclusive – This morning you will have a game drive along with a visit to the Rhino Sanctuary, where you can get up close to the tame rhinos. Afternoon visit with your Masai guide to his family home and to the Emarti Primary and Secondary Schools. In the evening the team of Masai watchmen on the farm will sing and dance their latest traditional hit at sundown on the lawn by the house.

DAY 11 – House in the Wild/Masai Mara National Reserve – Fully Inclusive – Game drive into Masai Mara National Park to see the great migration river crossing (if the timing of seasons is right).  Late afternoon Guided walks along the river banks or climb up the Kileleoni Hill.

DAY 12 – House in the Wild/Masai Mara National Reserve – Breakfast – This morning after one last game drive, you will be taken to the airport in time to fly to Wilson Airport in Nairobi. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to check-in for your international flight home. If you have several hours before your international flight departs, we can arrange a day room at a hotel, which is close to Jmo Kenyatta airport.

Giraffe Manor/Nairobi

Giraffe Manor is an exclusive boutique hotel, set in 12 acres of private land within 140 acres of indigenous forest in the Langata suburb of Nairobi. ROOM CONFIGURATION

There are a total of 12 rooms, 10 superior rooms and 2 suites. Each room is unique in size, view and configuration and individually decorated. One of the superior rooms, Daisy’s room is approximately 24 square meters in size and has westward views towards the Ngong Hills. It is one of only two rooms at Giraffe Manor with a balcony from which you can feed the giraffes when they visit in the early morning looking for treats. The room can accommodate either a couple or two singles (can be a double or a twin). The en-suite facilities consist of twin sinks and a spacious shower.

Elewana Tortilis Camp/Amboseli National Park

Amboseli is best known for its unrivaled views of Kilimanjaro and the local elephant population. There are over 1,000 elephants in the park’s eco-system, featuring some of the largest in Africa. Elewana Tortilis Camp is situated in one of Amboseli’s Acacia Tortilis woodland, with the majestic backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, and the World’s highest free-standing mountain, snow-capped Kilimanjaro. Game drives, walks, sundowners and bush meals take place both inside the park and within a private 30,000-acre game concession. The tents are all spacious, with king or twin beds and elegant ensuite bathrooms. There is a main lounge, bar and dining area, all exquisitely built with natural materials and thatched roofs.

ROOM CONFIGURATION

With Mt. Kilimanjaro peering down over the entire camp, each of Tortilis Camp’s 16 tents has a glorious view of the mountain. Each makuti-covered tent consists of a main bedroom with twin or double beds, en-suite bathroom and a spacious verandah. All tents can fit one extra bed, for children under the age of 16.

The Private House, newly refurbished in 2014, consists of two en-suite double bedrooms (one double & one triple) with a shared lounge and dining room with verandah.

The Family Tent consists of two en suite bedrooms (one double & one twin) and a spacious private verandah. The Private House and Family Tent share a private swimming pool.

Laikipia Wilderness Camp/Laikipia

Laikipia Wilderness is aimed at small groups of people with special interests such as photography, walking, tracking game and watching animal behavior, and small family groups looking for a more in-depth wilderness experience at a reasonable cost combined with warm hospitality, good food and a beautiful setting. The camp consists of a thatched mess building with a dining room, bar and sitting room/library overlooking the river.

House in the Wild/Masai Mara National Reserve

House in the Wild is a boutique lodge tucked away on a 1,000 acre private estate on the banks of the Mara River and is surrounded by game within the Enonkishu Conservancy. It has a casual and laid back atmosphere where guests can get away from the beaten track and plan their own itinerary as they like. The house sleeps 12 people comfortably, with 2 double ensuite rooms on the river, and 2 family cottages and an amazing pool overlooking the river. The house comes fully staffed and has an excellent chef and safari guide who can help guests to plan their activities over their stay.

House in the Wild is at its best when it is hired for a group booking, when guests can enjoy the exclusivity of it all, with complete privacy, and the Mara as their own back yard.

The owners and staff are also very proud of the fact that all of the fresh veggies, eggs, milk, cream and baked goods are produced by the farm or the family. Dining is either under the stars on a table by the campfire or in the dining area by the fire… Bush dinners and brunches can also be prepared and packed picnics for those wanting a full day of game driving.

There are 4 cottages as follows:

Family River Cottage – Has one double room with a big double bed and an optional 2 single beds for children, with an ensuite bathroom, and a huge bath overlooking the river. The cottage has a zip-up canvas net so guests can watch the sunrise over the Mara River.

Warburgia Cottage – A double en suite with a massive bath overlooking the river.

Original Cottage – A family cottage with 2 rooms sharing a bathroom, with a bath and an outside shower. One room has a double bed and the other room has 3 single beds.

Marula Cottage – This cottage has two large double en-suite rooms with its’ own private lawn, verandah and lounge areas.
