Sample Best of Zimbabwe Safari Itinerary at a Glance

DAY 1 – Tongabezi Lodge/Livingstone(Victoria Falls) – Fully Inclusive – Scheduled flight to Livingstone or Victoria Falls, drive to Tongabezi Lodge.

DAY 2 – Tongabezi Lodge/Livingstone(Victoria Falls) – Fully Inclusive – Morning tour of the falls and an evening river cruise down the Zambezi River.

DAY 3 – Linkwasha Camp/Hwange National Park – Fully Inclusive – After breakfast, fly to Hwange National Park and game drive to camp. Afternoon/evening game drive.

DAY 4 – Linkwasha Camp/Hwange National Park – Fully Inclusive – Morning walking safari followed by brunch out in the bush. Midday siesta, afternoon tea and evening game drive.

DAY 6 – Ruckomechi Camp/Mana Pools National Park – Fully Inclusive – Fly to Mana Pools National Park. Afternoon/evening game drive.

DAY 7 -Ruckomechi Camp/Mana Pools National Park – Fully Inclusive – After breakfast a nature walk in this remote and beautiful park. Afternoon river cruise or canoe excursion. Evening game drive.

DAY 8 -Ruckomechi Camp/Mana Pools National Park – Fully Inclusive – Morning game drive. Afternoon boat excursion with some birding, catch and release fishing and general game viewing of the plethora of wildlife on the river.

DAY 9 – Ruckomechi Camp/Mana Pools National Park – Breakfast – Morning Game Drive. Fly back to Victoria Falls to connect with your onward international flight.

Tongabezi Lodge/Livingstone (Victoria Falls)

The luxurious Tongabezi Lodge is situated on the banks of the Zambezi River, just upstream of the Victoria Falls. The lodge features a lounge, a bar, two main area swimming pools, and a gym. Meals are served in the large dining room, on an outdoor deck overlooking the river, in the privacy of your room, or floating on the Zambezi River. The five houses and four river cottages are each individually styled and cater for two to five guests. Game drives, bush walks, and boating trips are all-inclusive. Victoria Falls can be viewed in close proximity to the lodge, on a short excursion with your guide.

Located near the Zambezi River in southwestern Zambia, the bustling town of Livingstone is famous as the home of the magnificent Victoria Falls. One of the original natural wonders of the world, the World Heritage Site is known locally as ‘The Smoke that Thunders’. This spectacle is accessible from both Zambia and Zimbabwe.

ACTIVITIES

Victoria Falls is an ideal place to combine game viewing and water sports. There is much to do including excellent fishing, a thrilling bungee jump and arguably the best commercial whitewater rafting in the world. Visitors can hike around the falls, try zip lining or enjoy the incredible bridge swing. Those seeking more leisurely activities can take sunset cruises along the river, with champagne and snacks included, meander through the vibrant local Livingstone Market, or discover the region’s history and archaeology at the Livingstone Museum.

Linkwasha Camp/Hwange National Park

Linkwasha Camp lies in a private concession near the Ngamo Plains in Hwange National Park. Hwange is known for its prolific summer or green season game viewing, and Linkwasha adds an extra dimension during the dry season, when wildlife streams to drink from the pan immediately in front of the camp.

Nine luxurious en-suite tents (eight twin and one family) make this the most exclusive of Hwange’s camps. The multi-level main area shares the same unimpeded views, and day and night safaris in open 4×4 vehicles, walks and village visits let guests get to know their neighbours, both animal and human.

ROOM CONFIGURATION

Eight twin-bedded canvas tents each with two three quarter beds. Each tent comprises of en-suite facilities with double vanity basin, tea and coffee making facilities, and an electronic safe. An air-conditioning unit as well as additional ceiling and pedestal fans are provided in each of the rooms.

One family canvas unit consisting of two rooms (a main bedroom and a living room that can be converted into a second bedroom) each with their own bathroom. On request the main bedroom, with two three quarter beds (can be converted to a king-size bed on request) while the living room/2nd bedroom can accommodate two beds for children. The main bathroom has a shower and bathtub and the second bathroom has a shower and single vanity basin.

Bathrobes, liquid soap, shampoo & conditioner, body lotion, insect repellent, shower caps, vanity kit with two cotton tipped swabs and cotton balls, tissue dispenser, washing powder,umbrella, room spray and a mosquito coil are supplied in each tent.

Ruckomechi Camp/Mana Pools National Park

Located in the legendary Mana Pools National Park, Ruckomechi enjoys incredible views across the Zambezi to the towering escarpment on the Zambian side of the river. Albida trees provide both shade and seed pods that are beloved by elephants, meaning that these charismatic creatures are never far away.

Guest accommodation consists of ten spacious en-suite tented units, including two family units, and open 4×4 safari vehicles, motorized pontoon boats, canoes and good old safari boots facilitate the wildlife viewing. The camp even features a secluded outdoor bath for a luxurious sensory experience. Ruckomechi is open throughout the dry (winter) season.
