Sample Ultimate Zimbabwe Safari Itinerary at a Glance

DAY 1 – Victoria Falls River Lodge – Fully Inclusive – Scheduled flight to Victoria Falls. Evening sunset cruise on the Zambezi River.

DAY 2 – Victoria Falls River Lodge – Fully Inclusive – Morning guided tour of the falls and choice of afternoon activities (fishing, birding or guided bush walk).

DAY 3 – Linkwasha Camp/Hwange NP – Fully Inclusive – After breakfast, fly to Hwange NP and game drive to camp. Afternoon/evening game drive.

DAY 4 – Linkwasha Camp/Hwange NP – Fully Inclusive – Morning walking safari followed by brunch out in the bush. Midday siesta, afternoon tea, evening game drive.

DAY 5 – Linkwasha Camp/Hwange NP – Fully Inclusive – Morning visit to a local village and game drive. Afternoon tea and evening game drive.

DAY 6 – Little Ruckomechi Camp/Mana Pools NP – Fully Inclusive – Fly to Mana Pools. Afternoon/evening game drive.

DAY 7 – Little Ruckomechi Camp/Mana Pools NP – Fully Inclusive – After breakfast nature walk in this remote and beautiful place. Afternoon river cruise or canoe excursion. Evening game drive.

DAY 8 – Little Ruckomechi Camp/Mana Pools NP – Fully Inclusive – Morning game drive. Afternoon boat excursion with some birding, catch and release fishing and general game viewing of the plethora of wildlife on the river.

DAY 9 – Singita Pamushana Lodge/Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve – Fully Inclusive – Fly to Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve. After a nice massage at the spa, head out for an afternoon/evening game drive.

DAY 10 – Singita Pamushana Lodge/Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve – Fully Inclusive – Morning visit to a local village and rock art site. Afternoon on the dam fishing, wildlife viewing and sundowners.

DAY 11 – Singita Pamushana Lodge/Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve – Fully Inclusive – Morning guided safari walk followed by a bush brunch. Afternoon game drive and night time star gazing at the fire.

DAY 12 – Singita Pamushana Lodge/Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve – Breakfast – After breakfast you will have one last game drive on the way to the airstrip, where you will catch your flight to Johannesburg.

Victoria Falls River Lodge, on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, boasts 13 Luxury Tented Suites (each with private deck and plunge pool), 6 secluded Island Treehouse Suites (sheltered amidst the treetops of the private Kandahar Island), spacious open-plan dining, lounge and bar areas, an onsite fitness center and the indulgent Africology affiliated Toa Spa.

The first privately owned safari lodge to be built within the Zambezi National Park (Zimbabwe), the Lodge is ideally located for exploring Victoria Falls and combines the African Safari experience with one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World – the iconic Victoria Falls – the spray of which can be seen in the distance!

Resting on the southern banks of the Zambezi River at the western end of the eponymous falls, this popular tourist town is compact enough to walk around and makes an ideal base for travelers exploring the seventh wonder of the world, the unfathomably vast Victoria Falls. About two-thirds of the falls can be viewed from the Zimbabwean side and, while the falls are undoubtedly the star attraction, the area provides both adventure seekers and sightseers with plenty of opportunities to warrant a longer stay.  The town itself offers some excellent restaurant options as well as an eclectic variety of African curios and authentic art sold by friendly Zimbabwean locals who are wonderfully welcoming and eager to help you enjoy your stay.

ACTIVITIES

Popular activities include scenic flights over the falls in helicopters or microlights, bungee jumping off the Victoria Falls Bridge, white-water rafting (seasonal). Activities available through Victoria Falls River Lodge include:

ROOM CONFIGURATION

There are a total of 19 tents as follows:

Luxury tents – accommodating a maximum of two adults, these luxurious 110 square meter thatched tents are fully air-conditioned. Constructed of canvas, glass and wood – each extends out onto a private deck with its own plunge pool and boasts uninterrupted panoramas of the Zambezi River and natural bush. Also included is a larger than king-size bed, comfortable sitting area, open plan bathroom with freestanding bathtub and both indoor and outdoor showers. Twin bedded sleeping configurations are also possible.

Luxury family tent – In addition to the host of amenities available in the Luxury Tent, the 119 square meter Luxury Family Tents offer families an adjoining tented room. Comprising of either one single (¾ sized) bed and one bunk bed, or twin ¾ sized beds, where up to three sharing children younger than 17 years old can sleep comfortably; the adjoining children’s alcove allows parents a bit more privacy whilst keeping their children in close proximity. The expansive en-suite bathrooms are open plan and shared.

Island Treehouse – Set among the trees on the banks of the secluded Kandahar Island, and accessible by boat only, each of the 4 exquisite 95 square meter Island Treehouses accommodates a maximum of two guests and features a host of luxury conveniences, elegantly appointed sitting area, open-plan en-suite bathroom and private deck with plunge pool.

Starbed Treehouse – In addition to the wealth of luxury amenities offered in the Island Treehouses, the 100 square meter double-storey Starbed Treehouses also boast a spacious sitting area, en-suite bathroom with twin vanities and twin rain-showers and a private rooftop sitting area, with its signature starbed. Absolutely perfect for Honeymooners – or anyone wishing to reconnect with Nature and/or self.

Linkwasha Camp/Hwange National Park

Linkwasha Camp lies in a private concession near the Ngamo Plains in Hwange National Park. Hwange is known for its prolific summer or green season game viewing, and Linkwasha adds an extra dimension during the dry season, when wildlife streams to drink from the pan immediately in front of the camp.

Nine luxurious en-suite tents (eight twin and one family) make this the most exclusive of Hwange’s camps. The multi-level main area shares the same unimpeded views, and day and night safaris in open 4×4 vehicles, walks and village visits let guests get to know their neighbours, both animal and human.

ROOM CONFIGURATION

Eight twin-bedded canvas tents each with two three-quarter beds. Each tent comprises of en-suite facilities with double vanity basin, tea and coffee making facilities, and an electronic safe. An air-conditioning unit as well as additional ceiling and pedestal fans are provided in each of the rooms.

One family canvas unit consisting of two rooms (a main bedroom and a living room that can be converted into a second bedroom) each with their own bathroom. On request the main bedroom, with two three-quarter beds (can be converted to a king-size bed on request) while the living room/2nd bedroom can accommodate two beds for children. The main bathroom has a shower and bathtub and the second bathroom has a shower and single vanity basin.

Bathrobes, liquid soap, shampoo & conditioner, body lotion, insect repellent, shower caps, vanity kit with two cotton tipped swabs and cotton balls, tissue dispenser, washing powder,umbrella, room spray and a mosquito coil are supplied in each tent.

Little Ruckomechi/Mana Pools National Park
